Rock and Ice

Well, yesterday Jane and I completed the Rock and Ice. A 49km ski around the lakes outside of town. Jane and I switched off at 26ish km.
Poor her had the hardest leg (longer and skiing into the wind), mine I found quite enjoyable until I entered on to the big lake. Then I wanted to scream, take off my skis and walk. I didnt though, Jane completed her leg, so I needed to complete mine! I finished just before 6:30pm, about 3 hours from when I left Cassidy Point. HOLY F. I was amazed! Just thrilled with myself.
In total, as two girls who just started skiing at the beginning of February, we completed the 49km in 9 hours. Hot dang.
Next year I am definitely training more for it next year, and actually training, not just skiing around on the big lake every weekend for four weeks before the event. Serious training, I want to do it by myself. Our ski coach Jacob completed it in 4:10hrs. Haha, he was done before Jane made it to the Second Checkpoint.
Two weeks until Sweden.

25 more days!

Twenty five more days until I leave for Sweden via Calgary. My dilemma is now that Marcena is going to be here instead of Calgary, and she was my ride to Bens. Drat. Sooo now I gotta figure out how to get there for cheap.

Today I registered for the Rock and Ice Ultra! Jane and I are going to do it as a team, so not as intense, only 25km. Awesome. Also today I got the bottoms to my new bathing suit. Ugh! They are 'cheeky' the only however, my bum is not 'cheeky' enough to fill them out. Dear me. They fit around the hips, I just dont have a booty to fill them in so they are sorta saggy.
I shouldnt be complaining... at least they are not too small! High five for getting back in shape!

Time to convince Ben to come meet Joey and I in Germany!

Warm weather!

Today was an unbelievable day. It got up to +3.
+3 during the first week of March! Holy cow. I had to take advantage of the weather... I should have gone skiing with Corona, but instead we went skidooing. I think she had just as much fun, I did.
Tomorrow I plan to get out on the skis. I'm either gonna drag Jane out to the ski club to do some night skiing, or just follow these tracks I found on the lake with my head lamp and Corona. The more I think about skiing the more I question if I can actually do the Rock and Ice Ultra. I guess it comes down to how cold it is, how motivated I am, and how much skiing I get in.
Starting a new book tonight - the History of Marriage by Elizabeth Abbott. I hope it's interesting!

First Entry

Ooook!
So I am heading over to Europe in one month. It will be my third time heading to the continent, different countries mind you.
Initially I am going to Sweden to stay with my best friend Cailan who is teaching there, then come the end of her school year we will be venturing elsewhere throughout the continent. We really have no idea...
I know that this is early, I havent left yet, but I have some goals I'm setting for the month before I leave, the biggest one being training for this rediculous ski jaunt. The Rock and Ice Ultra. Why I suddenly decided to attempt this, I have no effing clue. I only started skiing in January, and havent even taken any lessons! Yet, for some absurd reason, I think that I can accomplish this 50km ski. Dear lord. I have until the 12th to back out, but right now I am gung ho! Hitting up the gym and skiing as much as I can whilst looking after my emotionally neurotic dog.
My other stressing goal is from work. I have to have a poster map created, out for tender, printed and delivered before March 31st, not only because that is my last day, but also that is when the funding for the map dissapears. Right now the map is partially completed, the tender has been sent to the finance lady to be made public.... and that is it. Ugh. Please I need it completed!
So in short, I guess this is just a recap of my preparing to leave for five months, and to get into the habit of writing again... it is apparent just from re-reading this that my writing ability has escaped me.
Come back!
